About
I’ve always had a love and fascination with wood and, over the past twenty-five years, have slowly learned how to make beautiful wooden pieces. Being a self-taught wood butcher, I know that woodworking is never something one perfects completely. It’s always a continual learning process. (Fortunately I’ve been able to burn most of my mistakes.)
I seek to let the wood’s pattern, texture, color and shape come alive as I combine wood to make functional and artistic pieces. Many of the objects are one-of-a-kind, since most pieces of wood are as unique as snowflakes. With those, I let the wood tell me what and how to build. Much time is spent on precision milling, jointing, and hand sanding in order to achieve a perfect finish.
I love the challenges of designing and building custom pieces for clients. I get great pleasure in creating a one-of-a-kind item “ex nihilo” (out of nothing) that has never been made before.
